(See the monthly study materials listed below) ******************************************************************************* 2009 Study DirectionIn 2009, we will be focusing primarily on President Ikeda's lectures.
******************************************************************************* The study curriculum for 2009 is as follows: Monthly Study Meetings Just as in 2008, the monthly study meetings, primarily held on the chapter level, will focus on SGI President Ikeda’s lecture series “Learning from the Writings: The Hope-filled Teachings of Nichiren Daishonin” (currently published in Japanese through installment 14). Pre-lecture recordings will continue to be provided as DVDs and streaming online at: http://www.sgimedia.net/ Study at Discussion Meetings “Writings for Discussion Meetings” published in the World Tribune (in the 3 rd issue of every month) will cover passages from Nichiren Daishonin’s writings focusing on basic study points or concepts. “The Writings for Discussion Meetings” for January through May will then serve as material for the 2009 Buddhist Learning Review.2009 October Buddhist Learning Review The Review will draw from President Ikeda’s “Hope-filled Teachings” lecture series, “The Writings for Discussion Meetings” (published in the World Tribune’s January through May issues) and additional materials covering the Life of Nichiren Daishonin (2 parts) and Soka Spirit published in Living Buddhism. The 2009 study materials are as follows: January 6: Winter Always Turns to Spring Concepts: Three Pillars: Faith, Practice and Study February 7: The Dragon Gate Concepts: Three Proofs March 8: The Strategy of the Lotus Sutra Concepts: Absolute vs. Relative Happiness April 9: Lessening One’s Karmic Retribution Concepts: Oneness of Life and the Environment May 10: Letter to Misawa Concepts: Three Obstacles and Four Devils June 11: The Essentials for Attaining Buddhahood Concepts: Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime July 12: Many in Body, One in Mind Concepts: TBD August 13: On Repaying Debts of Gratitude Concepts: TBD September 14: TBD October 15: TBD November 16: TBD December 17: TBD
